At the Hounslow Council Sustainable Development Committee held on Wednesday, 17 February 2010 the planning application by St George for the land at Kew Bridge was inexplicably approved.

Given that on the last occasion this application was before the SDC the consensus was to reject the application and only at the last minute was the decision deferred, and that no significant changes were made to the application which still fails to satisfy Hounslow’s own planning guidelines, how is it possible for approval to be given?

St George seem to have known the decision was going their way – they started works reinforcing the boundary fence several weeks ago.

Anyone care to spill the beans on what has been going on behind the scenes?

More images here.

Who would believe that sleepy old Brentford is now rapidly transforming into activist central?

Reports that quote the Keens as “not being keen on this action” are to be discounted, as any voter in Brentford or Ealing will tell you, the chances of the Keens responding meaningfully to any communications are vanishingly small.

The Daily Mail reported their combined expense claim of £313,714 in the last financial year here.

This comes just days after Hounslow Council began proceedings to repossess their Brentford home as reported by The Independent here.

Bloody Brentford. I love you.

Would have saved me a couple of hours in time and a couple of quid in fares if they could have been bothered to ring me beforehand.

On enquiring as to the availability of an application form for the Bus & Tram fare discount, which is being extended to those in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance for over thirteen weeks by the London Mayor, I am met with a blank stare. “We only have forms for those on Income Support” I am told. The floor manager very kindly offers to telephone Glasgow Benefits Centre on my behalf to make enquiries and bingo, they are aware of this and will send me a letter which should enable the Post Office to issue me with the appropriate Photocard.

I wonder why information on this scheme is so hard to come by, why don’t they make it easy for people to enjoy this excellent provision.
